Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team on a contract basis. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including parents, therapists, and other educators, to ensure comprehensive support for students. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement IEPs: Create and implement individualized education plans that cater to the unique needs of each student, setting achievable goals and objectives that align with state and national standards.
- Adapt Lesson Plans and Teaching Methods: Modify lesson plans and teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students in special education, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to access the curriculum.
- Collaborate with a Multidisciplinary Team: Work closely with parents, therapists, and other educators to ensure comprehensive support for students, sharing knowledge and expertise to inform instructional decisions.
- Assess and Monitor Student Progress: Regularly assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to maximize learning outcomes and ensure that students are meeting their IEP goals.
- Create a Supportive Classroom Environment: Establish a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, motivation, and success.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree: A degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid State Teaching Certification: A valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Endorsements or Certifications: Additional endorsements or certifications in specific areas of special education, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, or Emotional Support.
- Experience Working with Diverse Learners: Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, ADHD, and other special needs.
