Job Requirements and Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN or LPN in this state. You will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to our residents, supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants, and ensuring that all nursing personnel comply with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Some of the key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Directing the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants: You will be responsible for ensuring that nursing assistants are performing their duties in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern our facility.
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures: You will need to ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established by our facility.
  • Reviewing and revising policies and procedures: You will be responsible for periodically reviewing the department's policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc., and making recommendations for revisions as needed.
  • Coordinating nursing services: You will need to meet with your assigned nursing staff, as well as support personnel, to plan the shifts' services, programs, and activities.
  • Ensuring quality care: You will be responsible for ensuring that the Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current and reflects the day-to-day nursing procedures performed in our facility, and that all nursing service personnel comply with the procedures set forth in the manual.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN or LPN in this state: You must have a valid license to practice as an RN or LPN in the state where our facility is located.
  • Experience in long-term care: We prefer candidates with experience working in long-term care facilities, although this is not essential.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills: You will need to have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to supervise and direct nursing assistants and other support personnel.
  • Ability to work night shifts: You must be able to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing: We prefer candidates with a Bachelor's degree in nursing, although this is not essential.
  • Certification in gerontological nursing: Certification in gerontological nursing is desirable, although not required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records: Experience with electronic medical records is preferred, although we provide training and support to ensure that all staff are proficient in our systems.
