About the Role

We are seeking a highly energetic and results-driven Senior Information Science Expert to join our Search and Recommendations Insights team. The team leverages Wayfair's vast datasets to inform the development of our recommendations. We work in close collaboration with a high-performing team of specialists, AI engineers/data scientists, and product managers who are at the forefront of the product recommendation space. Examples of our work include designing, running, and analyzing the results of A/B tests of new recommendation algorithms and procedures, as well as developing new testing and test analysis methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Run exploratory data analysis to identify groundbreaking ideas and opportunities
• Design and run A/B tests of our latest recommendations algorithms
• Proactively monitor our recommendation models to identify potential issues, determine underlying drivers, and resolve them
• Build new tools that allow us to be more efficient and effective
• Work closely and build useful relationships with our product, engineering, and AI partners
• Communicate key insights and recommendations to cross-functional leadership teams across the organization

What You'll Need

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Years of professional experience in a scientific role (in addition to any graduate education)
• Experience in data science or a related field, with a strong background in e-commerce, is a significant plus
• In-depth experience with SQL (including advanced capabilities, query optimization, stored procedures, string parsing, Vertica/Hive/Voila/Flash, etc.), required
• In-depth experience with Python and Python tools (Jupyter notebooks, functions, pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, etc.), required
• Experience with experimental design (A/B tests) and statistical analysis to drive business decisions, highly preferred
• Knowledge and experience using machine learning algorithms/techniques (decision trees, random forest, deep learning, etc.) within a business setting, highly preferred
• Solid written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative and proactive mindset
• Ability to collaborate and proactively communicate with stakeholders
• Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results, thriving in a fast-paced environment
• Solid business acumen, analytical skills, and technical capabilities, along with problem-solving skills
