About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Dietitian or Licensed Dietitian to join our team on a part-time basis. As a Registered Dietitian or Licensed Dietitian, you will be responsible for assessing the nutritional status of our inpatient and outpatient population, developing and implementing personalized nutrition plans, and providing education to patients, families, and the community. Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the ability to screen patients for nutritional intervention and identify areas for improvement
  • Exhibit knowledge of clinical, anthropometric, laboratory, social, psychological, and nutrition data to inform assessment and treatment plans
  • Record pertinent patient nutritional care documentation in medical records and validate patient charges for nutritional care
  • Develop and implement nutrition care plans based on objective data from nutrition assessments
  • Evaluate and adjust nutrition care plans as necessary based on patient outcomes and continuous monitoring of patient needs
  • Provide counseling to patients, families, and significant others regarding diet needs, restrictions, and food/drug interactions
  • Initiate, develop, deliver, and evaluate nutrition education programs and in-services for food service employees, other healthcare staff, and the community
  • Attend and actively participate in department meetings and contribute to the development of the nutrition services team

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a related field
  • Registration as a Registered Dietitian or Licensed Dietitian in the state of Texas, or eligibility for registration
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 90 days of hire date
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Typing and basic computer skills, with experience using Microsoft Office applications preferred
  • Ability to read and write English, communicate with staff and patients, and remain calm under stress

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • One year of experience as a dietitian in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with electronic medical records and nutrition software
  • Knowledge of food service operations and management
  • Experience with community outreach and education programs
