Position Overview – Program Associate, Global Education (Remote)

R4D is seeking a highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and adaptable Program Associate to support the Global Education practice. This remote role will be based in Washington, DC, reporting directly to the Global Education Associate Director. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality research, developing communications products, and coordinating implementation activities for projects such as the EdTech Hub HelpDesk and early childhood development (ECD) initiatives. Your work will also intersect with the Global Nutrition practice, offering a unique opportunity to broaden your development expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Implementation Support: Serve as an essential member of cross‑functional project teams, ensuring all activities—from research to delivery—are executed on schedule and to the highest standard.
  • Research Design & Execution: Conduct desk reviews, develop interview guides, design surveys, and manage data coding and analysis using both qualitative and quantitative methods, with a focus on ECD and education technology.
  • Knowledge Product Development: Draft and polish global resource guides, concept notes, briefing memos, blog posts, newsletters, and presentation decks that translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights for funders, partners, and broader audiences.
  • Stakeholder Liaison & Facilitation: Build strong relationships with partner organizations in target countries, assist in coaching sessions, and facilitate virtual and in‑person coordination meetings.
  • Deliverable Monitoring: Track milestones, coordinate with implementing partners and technical advisors, and ensure timely submission of reports, invoices, and contractual documents.
  • Administrative & Operational Tasks: Draft contracts, process invoices, support recruitment of staff and consultants, and maintain organized project documentation.
  • Learning Exchange Design: Contribute ideas for long‑term knowledge‑sharing platforms, webinars, and community‑of‑practice events that amplify R4D’s impact across the global education sector.
  • Ad‑hoc Support: Tackle any additional duties that arise, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, International Development, Public Health, or a closely related field.
  • 1–2 years of relevant professional experience, including internships, preferably within international development, education, or early childhood sectors.
  • Demonstrated passion for improving educational outcomes for children and youth in low‑resource settings.
  • Exceptional organization skills with the ability to juggle multiple work streams and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self‑starter who thrives both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proven experience coordinating complex virtual and in‑person meetings, workshops, or conferences.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities; skilled at synthesizing large volumes of information into concise, reader‑friendly products.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign) is a plus.
  • Fluency in English required; additional language skills are desirable.
  • Commitment to working in a diverse, inclusive, and equity‑focused environment.

Preferred (Nice‑to‑Have) Qualifications

  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., Stata, SPSS, R) or qualitative analysis platforms (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose).
  • Background in EdTech evaluation, digital learning platforms, or technology‑enabled instruction.
  • Previous work producing policy briefs, advocacy documents, or peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for field visits or partner meetings (expenses covered).
  • Evidence of leading or contributing to learning communities, webinars, or knowledge‑exchange forums.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex problems, conduct rigorous research, and draw actionable conclusions.
  • Communication Excellence: Clear, persuasive writing; confident presentation skills; and the knack for tailoring messages to varied audiences.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills that foster trust, respect, and productive teamwork across cultures and time zones.
  • Technical Literacy: Comfortable using digital collaboration tools (Slack, Teams, Zoom), data visualization software, and basic graphic design applications.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and emerging challenges in a fast‑moving development environment.
  • Ethical Integrity: Commitment to confidentiality, data protection, and the highest standards of professional conduct.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities
