Job Overview

As a Customer Service Representative at blithequark, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to federal student loan borrowers. This will involve handling inbound and outbound customer calls, responding to inquiries, performing account updates, and helping customers establish personalized repayment plans that meet federal and state regulations. You will be working in a remote capacity, from the comfort of your own home, and will be expected to maintain the highest levels of privacy and security to protect customer data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform efficient and accurate handling of inquiries regarding student loans, account updates, and repayment options, all within company policies and federal and state regulations.
  • Handle inbound and outbound customer calls in a highly productive call center environment, meeting quality assurance and key performance indicators.
  • Provide assistance with completion of customer applications, ensuring that all guidelines outlined in department procedures are met.
  • Ensure the highest levels of privacy and security to protect customers, their data, and business partners, while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of customer interactions, using customer relationship tools and software.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6 months of contact center or customer service experience in a business environment.
  • 6 months of computer experience in a business environment.
  • Possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance (Federal 5C), which includes:
    • Not being in default on any federal student loans or defaulted loans guaranteed by the federal government.
    • Being a US citizen.
    • Not having any felonies or misdemeanors within the last 7 years that could cause an issue in obtaining a security clearance.
    • Not having any monies in non-medical collections exceeding $7,500.
  • Reside within a 75-mile radius of Augusta, GA.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Call center experience.
  • 6 months of Microsoft Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneNote).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • A friendly and professional speaking voice, with a patient demeanor.
  • Outstanding attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including basic troubleshooting, fast and accurate typing, and using web browsers.
  • Reliable high-speed internet using a hard-wired Ethernet connection.
  • Reliable transportation to a blithequark facility, throughout the course of employment.

Training and Development

New hires will be required to complete a remote paid training curriculum, which can extend up to 5-6 weeks. The training will take place from 8am to 5pm (Central Time), Monday through Friday, and will cover federal regulations, company policies, and the use of customer relationship tools. After completing the training, new hires will be assigned a 40-hour scheduled shift during operational hours.

Compensation and Benefits

As a Customer Service Representative at blithequark, you can expect to earn a competitive hourly rate of $17.75, plus $4.57 per hour in Health and Welfare benefits (capped at 40 hours per week). This means that the company will cover the full cost of employee-only medical, dental, and vision premiums, if you work a 40-hour week.
