Line/Copy Editor for 186,000-Word High Fantasy Novel
I am seeking an experienced line/copy editor with a strong background in high fantasy and epic storytelling to prepare my manuscript for publishing.
The manuscript is 396 pages (186,401 words) and Book 1 of a completed dualogy. It is a character-driven, epic fantasy tale with political intrigue, divine prophecy, and large-scale battles between houses, etc... The story blends mythic themes with intimate character arcs and is structured across 30 chapters plus an epilogue.
Line Editing: Refine prose for flow, clarity, rhythm, and consistency while maintaining voice and tone.
Copyediting: Correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style issues. Ensure consistency in terminology, names, and lore.
Continuity Check: Watch for internal logic errors, timeline slips, or character inconsistencies.
Fantasy-Specific Awareness: Spot moments where worldbuilding, mythology, or faction detail can be clarified without over-explaining.
Polish for Agents/Publishers: Tighten pacing in places, flag repetitive phrasing, and elevate readability without sacrificing complexity.
