The Customer Service Specialist will be responsible for training and exhibiting proficiency in multiple positions across different departments to effectively cover business needs as they arise. Key Responsibilities

  • Train and demonstrate proficiency in various positions within Customer Service, Finance, and Terminal Operations to provide effective coverage support as business needs dictate.
  • Utilize internal systems such as EAM, Cargowise, and Mainsail to track container shipments and ensure accurate and timely updates.
  • Engage with customers via phone or email to address questions, concerns, and requests regarding deliveries, pickups, and other logistics-related inquiries.
  • Generate reports using internal systems for utilization by multiple departments, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
  • Audit reports, bills of lading, and delivery schedules for accuracy and completeness, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Communicate with carriers to coordinate container logistics, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to schedules.
  • Record the movement of containers and trailers entering and exiting the Anchorage terminal, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Reference quotes for Northbound and Southbound container movements, providing competitive and accurate pricing information to customers.
  • Perform data entry tasks using internal systems or Microsoft Excel, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with data management standards.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet federal standards required for transportation workers within 90 days or as the schedule allows.
  • Clerical office or Customer Service experience is preferred, with a strong emphasis on providing exceptional customer experiences.
  • Proficiency with Windows and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, is essential for data management and report generation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in logistics, transportation, or a related field, with knowledge of internal systems and software applications used in these industries.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to create complex spreadsheets and reports.
  • Experience with customer service software and technology, including CRM systems and helpdesk platforms.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and standards, including those related to safety, security, and environmental protection.
