Job Overview

The Ramp and Customer Service Agent is a critical role that combines above and below wing tasks, including passenger interactions and ramp operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our flights, and contributing to the overall success of blithequark.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist passengers with travel needs, such as answering questions, handling baggage, tagging, checking-in passengers, and boarding flights in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work outside in various weather conditions while performing below wing tasks, including transporting baggage and freight, loading and unloading aircraft, airplane marshaling, and deicing.
  • Conduct aircraft preparation and security checks to ensure the safety of our passengers and crew.
  • Perform boarding and gate duties, including assisting and coordinating passengers, making announcements, processing standby requests, and handling flight disruptions.
  • Process and secure passenger baggage, including recording and maintaining baggage claims for damaged, delayed, or missing items.
  • Load and unload baggage and freight using conveyor belts and other equipment.
  • At the discretion of management, may be assigned to perform duties of varying complexity to ensure total passenger satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of blithequark.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with passengers and colleagues.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license to operate company vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to learn and work with automated reservation systems and other technology.
  • Typing speed of at least 25 words per minute to efficiently process passenger information.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and handle to perform tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Basic math skills to perform calculations and handle cash transactions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to participate in paid training that may require overnight travel.
  • Depending on work location, ability to obtain USPS Mail Handling Certification.
  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • At least 1 year of customer service or community service experience to provide a strong foundation for success in this role.

Compensation and Benefits

As a Ramp and Customer Service Agent with blithequark, you can expect a competitive starting rate of $20.00 per hour. Our total rewards package includes:
