Energy Consultant - PE Reviewer & IDF Validator
Company Description
Iteration67 transforms energy compliance through advanced AI automation and expert human collaboration. Our platform generates 90% of traditional consulting deliverables automatically - including ASHRAE 211 energy audits, DOE compliance forms, LEED documentation, and EnergyPlus simulations. We deliver investment-grade compliance reports in 48 hours with PE-stamped quality assurance.
Role Description
This is a remote contract role for a Licensed Professional Engineer to serve as the technical quality gate for our AI-powered energy compliance platform.
This is NOT a traditional energy modeling position. Our platform automates report generation, EnergyPlus simulations, and compliance analysis. Your role is to:
• Validate IDF Files - Review AI-generated and template-based EnergyPlus IDF files before simulation to ensure building geometry, HVAC systems, schedules, and envelope specifications are accurate and code-compliant
• QC Simulation Results - Verify that EnergyPlus outputs are reasonable and align with expected building performance
• Review & Stamp Reports - Validate AI-generated compliance reports for technical accuracy, code adherence, and professional standards before PE stamping
What You'll Review & Validate
IDF/Simulation Inputs:
• Building geometry and zone definitions
• HVAC system specifications (chillers, boilers, air handling)
• Envelope properties (U-factors, SHGC, R-values)
• Lighting power density and schedules
• Equipment loads and occupancy schedules
• Weather file appropriateness for location
Report Outputs:
• ASHRAE 211 Level I, II, III Energy Audit Reports
• DOE/PNNL ASHRAE 90.1 Compliance Forms
• LEED BD+C EAp2/EAc1 Documentation
• Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) with ROI analysis
• IPMVP Measurement & Verification Plans
• ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager benchmarking data
Required Qualifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) license - Required for report stamping
• ASHRAE expertise - Deep knowledge of ASHRAE 211, 90.1-2019/2022, and Guideline 14
• EnergyPlus/IDF proficiency - Ability to read, interpret, and identify issues in IDF files
• LEED experience - Familiarity with LEED BD+C energy credits (EAp2, EAc1, EAc2)
• Code compliance knowledge - Understanding of Title 24, IECC, and local energy codes
Preferred Qualifications
• LEED AP BD+C certification
• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar
• Experience with OpenStudio, DesignBuilder, or similar modeling tools
• Familiarity with BREEAM standards
Time Commitment
• Estimated 3-5 hours per project (IDF review: 1-2 hrs, Report QC: 2-3 hrs)
• Flexible scheduling - review queue managed through platform dashboard
• Project volume scales with platform growth
Why This Role is Different
You're not creating models from scratch or writing reports manually. You're the expert validator ensuring AI-generated work meets professional engineering standards. This lets you leverage your expertise efficiently while we handle the heavy lifting.
