About the position
Responsibilities
• Analyze publicly available information and develop industry-relevant contacts to create an investment mosaic.
• Estimate fair values for approximately 20 Tech companies, primarily in the software sector.
• Gather and analyze industry data to develop a long-term vision and write timely, insightful notes for clients.
• Analyze implications of fundamental industry developments for coverage.
• Regularly publish reports and detailed discounted cash flow models focusing on key business drivers.
• Develop relationships with coverage companies and industry participants by attending events and conferences.
• Become an expert in Morningstar's Economic Moat research methodology.
• Proactively surface attractive investment ideas to support products and clients.
• Collaborate with colleagues by lending financial, industry, and investment expertise.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree; CFA designation and/or MBA or a Master's is preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in sell-side or buy-side equity research, or technology industry experience with interest in equity research.
• Strong qualitative and quantitative acumen with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make decisions under tight deadlines with incomplete information.
• Sound financial modeling skills and knowledge of discounted cash flow modeling techniques.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
