Dynamics 365 Finance Senior Consultant / Analyst - Contract to Hire
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Dynamics 365 Finance Senior Consultant for a consulting engagement. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in implementing and optimizing Dynamics 365 Finance solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of financial processes and the ability to lead projects effectively.
Must be able to run workshops to understand the current legal entities and chart of accounts and advise a simplified entity structure and chart of accounts. Must be well versed with budgeting and taxation along with other Finance functions in D365 F&O.
The consultant will lead structured analysis workshops, document the current finance processes, introduce Dynamics 365 Finance best practices, and design the complete future-state solution architecture covering core Finance modules, budgeting, taxation, asset management, consolidations, and chart of accounts simplification.
This role is suited for a highly experienced consultant with strong accounting knowledge, deep D365 Finance implementation experience, and the ability to confidently run workshops with senior executives, including the CFO and Finance leadership team.
Scope of Work
1. Current-State Analysis
Conduct workshops with Finance stakeholders and senior leadership.
Understand and document the current finance processes across all areas (GL, AP, AR, FA, Bank, Cash, Budgeting, Tax, etc.).
Develop detailed current-state Swim Lane process maps using Visio or similar tools.
Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
2. Dynamics 365 Finance Best Practice Advisory
Educate stakeholders on standard Dynamics 365 Finance processes, controls, and recommended practices.
Provide insights on configuration options, modular capabilities, compliance capabilities, and extensibility.
Guide CFO-level stakeholders on legal entity structure simplification, chart of accounts rationalisation, period closing, and consolidation approaches (local + group level).
3. Future-State Process Design
Design and document future-state finance processes aligned to D365 Finance capabilities.
Produce future-state Swim Lane diagrams across all relevant finance functions.
Recommend improvements compared to current-state processes, including automation opportunities, control improvements, and reporting enhancements.
4. Requirements Definition
Develop a complete set of requirements documentation, including:
Functional requirements (transactional flows, accounting rules, workflows, controls).
Non-functional requirements (performance, compliance, auditability, security, reporting, UX).
Integration requirements between D365 Finance and ERP/CRM/portal applications.
Data migration requirements, including entity mapping, historical data scope, cleansing requirements, and chart-of-accounts transformation needs.
5. Fit-Gap Analysis
Perform a detailed Fit-Gap analysis comparing current and future-state requirements against standard D365 Finance functionality.
Identify required configurations, extensions, ISV solutions, and customisations.
Provide recommendations that optimise use of standard D365 capabilities wherever possible.
6. Functional Design Documentation
Produce a complete Functional Design Document (FDD) aligned with the approved future-state design.
Include data models, business rules, workflows, integration patterns, chart of accounts design, and consolidation structures.
Ensure documentation is suitable for handover to technical and implementation teams.
