The role of AI Security and Safety Researcher involves proactively testing Microsoft’s AI systems for vulnerabilities and advising product teams on risk mitigation strategies. Responsibilities • Discover and exploit GenAI vulnerabilities end-to-end in order to assess the safety of systems • Manage product group stakeholders as priority recipients and collaborators for operational sprints • Drive clarity on communication and reporting for red teaming peers when working with product groups • Develop methodologies, techniques, and research on emerging frontier AI threats to scale and accelerate AI Red Teaming and AI Safety & Security across Microsoft • Work alongside traditional offensive security engineers, adversarial ML experts, developers to land responsible AI operations Skills • Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat analysis or modeling, cybersecurity, vulnerability research, and/or anomaly detection • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field AND 2+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat analysis or modeling, cybersecurity, vulnerability research, and/or anomaly detection • OR equivalent experience • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter • Doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field • Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field AND 3+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat analysis or modeling, cybersecurity, vulnerability research, and/or anomaly detection • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field AND 5+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat analysis or modeling, cybersecurity, vulnerability research, and/or anomaly detection • Related fields include Machine Learning, AI security, and AI safety and more • Related fields include: Chemistry, Biology, Nuclear Physics, AI Security, AI Safety, and Machine Learning Company Overview • Microsoft is a software corporation that develops, manufactures, licenses, supports, and sells a range of software products and services.
