Live On Nebraska is seeking a Donation Coordinator to join our team and play a crucial role in saving lives through tissue and eye donation. In this role, you will manage tissue donation referrals, assess donor suitability, and work closely with donor families to ensure compassionate, informed decisions. You will also collaborate with healthcare professionals and support services to ensure a smooth, efficient donation process. This position is based in our Omaha, NE office, with a remote option available for qualified candidates residing in Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Job Responsibilities: Advocate for Tissue and Eye Donation: Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for donor families and external partners while explaining the donation process, eligibility, and the impact on recipients. Donor Evaluation: Review medical and social histories and evaluate donor suitability based on clinical data and cross-reference with processing partner criteria to assess eligibility for donation and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the suitability of donors. Family Communication: Lead sensitive conversations with grieving families, providing emotional support, guidance, and answering questions to help them through the donation process. Documentation: Complete all required authorization and medical paperwork for tissue and eye donations, ensuring accuracy, privacy, and compliance with organizational policies. Collaboration: Work with healthcare partners, funeral homes, and other external agencies to coordinate timely and efficient donation processes. Team Collaboration: Foster a positive, supportive work environment, contributing to teamwork, self-care, and the organization's mission. Stay calm under pressure, ensuring decisions are made quickly and effectively during high-stress situations. Preferred Experience: • Associate degree focused in health sciences or previous healthcare experience as an EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or medical investigator is strongly preferred. • Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) Certification is preferred but not required. • Experience working in a call center or a fast-paced environment is also helpful. • Prior experience in healthcare, tissue/eye donation, or a related field is a plus. Skills: • Strong administrative skills, including data entry and document management. • Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech) preferred. • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes. • Excellent communication skills, especially in sensitive conversations. • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating the ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Compassionate, mission-driven individuals with a strong healthcare background and exceptional interpersonal skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and managing complex information. • Ability to travel for in-person training in Nebraska for 2 weeks for new hire training. Must be able to travel to Omaha for additional training throughout the year. • Ability to complete training during day shifts (7:00 am - 7:00 pm). Once trained, transition to overnight shift (7:00 pm - 7:00 am). • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to travel by vehicle or plane. Environment: • Consistently on the phone, instant messaging, and computer • 12-hour shifts with training being on days. On average, day training occurs for about 2-3 months. • Provide support and approach for donation to grieving families The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate is not applicable for geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Live On Nebraska, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate for the current range is $49,303 - $59,017 annually.
