Illustrator Needed for Art-Forward Board Game Prototype
I’m developing a visually driven, educational board game prototype and am seeking an illustrator or designer to collaborate on early-stage artwork.
The project is research-based and design-forward, with a strong emphasis on color, visual clarity, and refined aesthetics. The tone is intelligent, calm, and museum-adjacent rather than cartoon or fantasy. This is not a children’s game, and not character-driven.
At this stage, I’m looking for an illustrator who:
- Has a strong sense of composition and color
- Is comfortable working with structured systems (maps, diagrams, sets, collections)
- Can interpret a written brief and visual references thoughtfully
- Understands how artwork translates to print
The initial scope is limited to prototype visuals only. Full details will be shared privately with shortlisted candidates.
What I’m Looking For
- Illustration, graphic design, or cartographic experience
- Strong color sensitivity
- Ability to create artwork that feels cohesive across multiple components
- Experience preparing files for print is a plus
Deliverables (Prototype Phase)
- A small set of illustrated or designed components for a physical board game prototype
- Print-ready files (details shared later)
Style Direction
The visual direction will lean toward one of the following:
- Refined, archival, or educational illustration
- Clean, modern, information-based design
Specific references and creative direction will be provided after selection.
Budget
- Flexible and dependent on experience and scope.
- This is a paid prototype phase with potential for continued collaboration.
To Apply
Please include:
- A portfolio (especially maps, systems, editorial, or educational work if applicable)
- A short note about how you approach color and structure in your work
