Key Responsibilities

  • Greet, qualify, recommend, and close sales with customers in your department, utilizing your knowledge of products and services to drive sales growth and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of products and services in adjacent departments, ensuring a seamless customer experience across the store
  • Ensure the in-stock condition of assigned areas, maintaining a clean, shop-able, and safe environment for customers and colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with your Department Supervisor and other associates to achieve sales targets, share knowledge, and drive business results
  • Provide a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies and standards, completing specified safety training, and reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues, fostering a culture of trust, respect, and open communication

Essential Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers, colleagues, and vendors
  • A strong passion for sales, customer service, and product knowledge, with a drive to continuously learn and develop your skills

  • Basic math skills and ability to operate a point-of-sale system and other retail technology
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Previous experience in a sales or customer service role, preferably in a retail environment
  • Knowledge of products and services in the building materials, décor, electrical, flooring, garden, hardware, kitchen & bath, lumber, millwork, paint, plumbing, and tool rental industries
  • Completion of a sales or customer service training program, or a degree in a related field
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and move freely throughout the store
