Job Overview

The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks from a remote setting, including managing communications via phones and multiple software applications, handling medical records according to HIPAA regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to patients, attorneys, and other stakeholders. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for adjusters, attorneys, record retrieval companies, and patients via phone and email, providing friendly and efficient service.
  • Relay messages from requesters to appropriate team members or departments utilizing multiple software applications.
  • Manage and organize incoming and outgoing personal injury records and billing requests, ensuring timely responses and follow-ups.
  • Ensure all patient information is kept confidential and secure in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Meet productivity standards, including working a minimum of 55 accounts per day.
  • Participate in regular team meetings via video or teleconference to stay updated on best practices and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Demonstrate competency in the performance of job-related skills, providing excellent customer service to diverse populations and departmental services.
  • Utilize and operate equipment and mechanical devices to maintain a functional, effective, and safe remote work environment.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and guidelines relative to departmental operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A High School diploma with a minimum of two years of Customer Service Representative experience, preferably in a healthcare or medical billing setting.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and regulations, with experience in maintaining confidentiality and security of patient information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn and adapt to new software applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish good working relationships with internal and external customers, including attorneys, physicians, patients, and the public.
  • Strong telephone etiquette and customer service skills, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care and support.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of Medical Billing procedures and regulations, with experience in handling billing requests and inquiries.
  • Previous experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with the ability to self-motivate and manage time effectively.
  • Certification in Customer Service or a related field, such as Certified Customer Service Representative (CCSR) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS).
