Senior Data Architect

Employment Type: Contract to hire Location: Wisconsin or Remote Carex is partnering with a Financial Services industry partner to find an experienced Senior Data Architect who will provide strategic leadership in designing and executing enterprise-wide data architecture initiatives. This role is pivotal in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization and driving transformation efforts through scalable, secure, and innovative data architecture strategies. Summary The Senior Data Architect will lead the design and implementation of a unified data architecture that aligns with long-term business goals. This individual will play a key role in shaping the organization's data ecosystem—ensuring scalability, governance, and innovation while collaborating with executive leadership, technology teams, and business stakeholders to support enterprise-wide data transformation. What You’ll Do • Lead the design, implementation, and governance of comprehensive enterprise data architecture frameworks that support scalability, performance, and security. • Oversee cross-functional data initiatives across multiple business units, ensuring cohesive and efficient data integration and delivery. • Develop and maintain a long-term data architecture vision and roadmap aligned with strategic business and digital transformation objectives. • Conduct architecture reviews and ensure data solutions meet standards for scalability, performance, and compliance. • Incorporate data governance and quality management practices into architectural decisions, including data validation, monitoring, and security controls. • Serve as a key liaison to executive leadership, presenting architecture strategies and influencing organizational data decisions. • Evaluate emerging technologies, lead proof-of-concept initiatives, and guide the organization in adopting next-generation data tools and platforms. • Mentor and lead teams of data architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and data-driven excellence. What You’ll Bring • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field. • 15+ years of experience in technology, with at least 10 years in enterprise data architecture or data strategy roles. • Proven experience leading complex, large-scale data architecture projects in enterprise environments. • Expertise with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS), data lakes, and solutions such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Microsoft Fabric. • Strong understanding of data governance, data security, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). • Advanced proficiency in data modeling, metadata management, and data integration platforms. • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business strategies. • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and drive organizational alignment around data initiatives. • Preferred: Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Azure Solutions Architect.
