Job Overview The Quality Engineer will be responsible for leading cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements, utilizing QA approaches to manage and facilitate issue resolution, including root cause analyses and the development, implementation, and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-centric mindset. Key Responsibilities Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements Utilize QA approaches to manage and facilitate issue resolution, including root cause analyses and the development, implementation, and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions Establish and maintain quality performance metrics Lead the Suspension team for Quality Association Perform technical root cause analysis of vehicle systems (full vehicle: interior, exterior, chassis, HV/LV, FW, Diag, Thermal) Coordinate and manage complex and constantly changing body system specifications and deviations Establish and maintain control plans and inspection guidelines to ensure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production processes Drive control and corrective actions implementation into manufacturing line/design/supplier Lead/participate in review and disposition of discrepant materials identified for control of nonconforming product Promote and maintain a culture and mindset of continuous improvement, working within the Tesla team to make it more efficient, safer, and a pleasant work environment Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field, with a strong technical background in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Power Devices, Electronics, or a comparable relevant experience. Relevant experience in a related field, such as Failure Analysis/Manufacturing/Quality/Management in consumer electronics or automotive, is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications Explicit training and demonstrated proficiency in applying quality problem-solving techniques, such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc. For entry-level candidates, participation in student competitions like Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or Solar Vehicle is a plus A broad technical foundation with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, management, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and outside Excellent problem-solving and Failure Analysis skills, with strong attention to detail and analytical thinking Ability to use tools and business system applications to survive, coordinate, and interpret data Programming languages and tools: SQL, Python, Minitab, JMP, or similar are a strong plus Ability and willingness to travel locally and internationally (5% to 10%) Must be thorough, effectively handle multiple priorities, have a strong work ethic, and can meet tight deadlines Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Tesla, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
