Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialist
TMX Group is a leading global exchange company connecting various organizations to enhance capital markets. The Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialist will manage full-cycle AP and AR processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions while maintaining vendor and customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Generate, process, and distribute accurate customer invoices in a timely manner
- Accurately record and apply incoming customer payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers) to the correct accounts and invoices
- Monitor the Accounts Receivable aging report and proactively follow up on past-due accounts via phone and email to secure timely payment while maintaining positive customer relationships
- Reconcile customer accounts, resolve billing discrepancies, and process any necessary credit memos or adjustments
- Prepare AR-related reports, including aging summaries, collections forecasts, and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) metrics
- Review, verify, and process high-volume vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding, authorization, and matching to purchase orders (if applicable)
- Prepare and process weekly or bi-weekly payment batches (checks, ACH, wire transfers) for vendor disbursements in compliance with company policies
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status, statement discrepancies, and invoice issues
- Reconcile vendor statements to the general ledger and ensure all balances are accurate
- Assist with year-end tax requirements, including the preparation and filing of 1099 forms
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation (both physical and electronic) in accordance with company policies and audit requirements
- Perform administrative and clerical tasks, such as data entry, filing, and reporting
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Purchasing, Sales) to resolve AP/AR-related issues
Skills
- 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable/receivable or general accounting is typical
- Proficiency with accounting software and strong skills in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
