Entry-Level Structural Engineer - Advanced Facilities ELE - Portland, OR

Jacobs is a company focused on solving critical problems for cities and environments. They are seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to join their Advanced Facilities - Electronics team in Portland, OR, where the engineer will work on structural analysis and design projects with guidance from experienced professionals.

Responsibilities

• Work on projects including the design of new structures as well as existing structural upgrades
• Assist in the performance of structural analysis and design for projects
• Perform increasingly complex calculations and analysis as the structural design is developed
• Work with Designers to get the structural requirements communicated on paper and in the model
• Develop a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Structural Engineering
• Gain experience in multiple subject areas and learn how Structural design integrates with and impacts other disciplines
• Develop understanding of principles of analysis and design of vertical and lateral structural systems in compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Manage own workload and take ownership of your portion of the structural scope
• Meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements
• Determine what is needed to meet project and client needs, recognizing when help is needed

Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, with a clear emphasis on Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• Excellent communication (both written and verbal), problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
• This position is considered project site/hybrid and may require you to work in the local office, at a project site, or from your home (within approximately 50 miles of site)
• Internet service with a MINIMUM speed of 25Mbps download/10Mbps upload as required to effectively meet project performance requirements (higher internet speed is recommended)
• Sponsorship is not available for this position
• MS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering
• Previous relevant internship experience in Structural Engineering, preferably with experience analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures
• Experience with STAAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam
• Familiarity with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC
