Actuarial Analyst
Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to support various actuarial analyses and assist credentialed actuaries. The role involves learning fundamental actuarial theories, providing analysis, and preparing reports while maintaining effective communication with diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
- Independently, learn to apply fundamental actuarial theories, techniques, and procedures and develop the basic skills required to assist in the preparation of various actuarial analysis
- May work in valuation/reserving, pricing, product, research/support, business planning, capital / financial modeling
- Provide support to credentialed actuaries and others by performing analysis within designated business segments
- Assist in the preparation of actuarial reports and studies
- Provide clear communication of technical actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences
- Understands communication preferences and is flexible to the expectations and ways of communicating to different audiences
- Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in communicating with colleagues with differing backgrounds
- Use mathematical and statistical skills to aid in the analysis and synthesis of data to support key initiatives within the department
- Challenges personal views and actively seeks input from others to drive the best possible business outcome. Seeks to understand, respect and appreciate different perspectives
- Positive progress towards pursuing and passing of required actuarial exams
- Maintain status in the Actuarial Development Program
- Domestic travel required up to 10%
- Telecommuting permitted up to 80%
Skills
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Risk Management and Insurance or related field
- 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation
- Intermediate SAS EG programming
- Intermediate Python programming
- Ratemaking Analysis skills
- Performing Loss Development Analyses
- Fitting Frequency and Severity Trends
- Producing Profit Review by Subsegment and Rating Plans
- Interpreting Reports to Support Rate Filing Strategies
- On Leveling Premium
- Reconciling Actuarial Calculations
- Assists Underwriters with Pricing Tools
