Job title: Associate Director, Institutional Clients, Impact Investing Company: Global Impact Investing Network Job description: GIIN aims to inspire asset owners to integrate impact investing into their portfolio in a systematic manner through its Capital Mobilization Program. To do this, the program works with institutional investors to develop resources (e.g., guides, briefs, etc.) that build their capabilities to develop an integrated approach to impact investing. The program also engages asset owners, globally, to provide opportunities for investors to exchange learnings and best practices among peers. The position will focus primarily on institutional asset owners (i.e., pension funds, insurance companies, endowments, and sovereign wealth funds) and will include an explicit stream of work focused on scaling climate investment solutions for institutional investors. This role also will work alongside another manager focused on faith-based and values-oriented asset owners. The position is ideal for candidates who have experience working with institutional asset owners at a strategic level, demonstrated success in building relationships, and possess a passion for sustainable and responsible investing. The position will report to the Chief Investor Network Officer. The GIIN does not provide advisory services or engage in capital raising activities, and instead focuses on defining and elevating industry practices and platforms for innovation. Responsibilities: Build, maintain, and expand relationships with institutional asset owners • Engage institutional investors individually and through groups to promote GIIN's vision for impact investing • Project manage the development of research, tools, and other knowledge products that support institutional asset owners in their design and implementation of impact investing strategies and practices • Build a network of deep relationships within the institutional asset owner community Develop projects and manage Working Groups that move institutional asset owners from interest in impact investing to implementation • Design projects that enable institutional asset owners to implement investing with an impact lens, including working groups, roundtables, developing thought leadership, and projects with groups of asset owners and managers • Work in collaboration with other GIIN programs as needed, including GIIN's research, impact measurement and management, membership, communications, and development teams Research trends and identify opportunities to advance impact investing approaches within the institutional asset owner community • Collaborate with the GIIN's research team to understand investing strategies of institutional asset owners to inform internal and external stakeholders • Monitor related developments in other networks that engage institutional investors Drive external communications • Lead development of relevant materials to promote the program • Support grant proposal preparation as related to Capital Mobilization and subsequent reporting requirements • Represent the GIIN at industry conferences Experience and Competencies • 8 or more years of relevant work experience showing ability to build and manage professional relationships and projects at a strategic level • The maturity and professional experience necessary to interact effectively as a trusted partner with institutional asset owners, including sovereign funds, endowments, insurance companies and pension funds • Solid understanding of the decision-making processes of institutional investors for setting investment strategies and policies, e.g. as an investment consultant. • Robust knowledge of a wide range of strategic investment management topics, including governance, investment strategy, strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction, and knowledge of diverse asset classes, gained in the institutional investment industry. • Solid understanding of responsible investing practices and experience engaging institutional asset owners is preferred • Knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) • Experience conducting primary research projects preferred • Intellectual drive, thinking about big issues, what makes and moves markets, what inspires people • Strong oral and written communication skills, with public speaking/presentation experience required • Strong experience in project management with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously • Team-orientation, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently; flexibility and willingness to pitch in • Ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours at times of peak project flow • Demonstrated interest in impact investing and using capital as a force for good • Aligned in thought and action with GIIN's values: Location: This position will be based in our New York City office with significant remote work flexibility offered through the GIIN's hybrid in-person/remote work. Compensation: Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience, with an excellent benefits package. Salary range for this position is between $85,000-$98,000.
