Consultant, Internal Audit (Toronto)

As a Consultant in Internal Audit, you will lead and execute internal audit projects, assess risks, and develop audit plans while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Leading and executing internal audit projects at various institutions
- Identifying risks and assessing the effectiveness of governance, risk management, control environment and processes
- Using established tools and methodologies to develop risk-based audit plans
- Collect and analyze data
- Working with subject matter experts
- Documenting results and report writing
- Conducting client interviews
- Assessing business processes
- Leading and teaching teams and mentoring junior staff
- Co-facilitating workshops
- Synthesizing and communicating complex ideas
- Developing value-added recommendations
- Assisting with risk mitigation strategies
- Using business savviness and verbal skills to build trust and credibility with client base
- Planning, executing and reporting on Internal Audits
Skills
- 1 to 3 years' experience in an internal audit function or in a professional service firm
- Experience including Operational Audits, Internal audit planning and risk assessment, internal controls, IT controls review
- Internal audit designation (CIA) is required (or should be pursuing)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong business acumen and executive presence
- Analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Experience with project problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, facilitation of decision making, and documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PPT
- Experience performing, implementing or advising on quality assessments of internal audit functions is considered an asset
- Accounting or related designations (such as CPA) are considered an asset
- Experience with financial services sector (banking, insurance, credit unions) are considered an asset
- Eligible to obtain/or has already obtained Government of Canada Security Clearance is an asset
- Previous experience reviewing work or overseeing junior team members is an asset
- Strong knowledge of business operations and key processes will be considered a key asset
- Data analytics and data visualization (considered an asset)
