Live Oak Consulting is seeking a creative professional to lead design communications work that centers Indigenous communities and advances cross-cultural/shared stewardship through visual storytelling, policy development and trainings for organizations wanting to partner with Tribes and Native communities.
Position Overview
This multifaceted role encompasses client-facing design work, internal communications, and brand stewardship—all grounded in cultural sensitivity and a deep understanding of how design choices can honor and uplift Indigenous perspectives. Experience with online learning platforms such as Kajabi preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Client-Facing Design & Art Direction The role involves art direction, some copywriting, and an eye for copy editing for interpretive projects including museum exhibits, signage systems, and wayfinding. Work is produced primarily for print using Adobe Creative Suite, with secondary applications in motion graphics and sound design. The position requires fluency in the full print production process, from concept through fabrication, including navigation of budget constraints, shifting timelines, and complex communication streams with clients, fabricators, and tribal partners.
Internal Design & Communications Senior-level design work supports Live Oak's operational needs: grant submissions, training materials, presentations, and internal reports. This requires proficiency across Google Workspace and Microsoft Suite, with an understanding of cross-platform workflows and their technical challenges.
Brand & Digital Presence Responsibilities (when necessary) include maintaining Live Oak's social media presence, website updates, brand guide stewardship, and development of brand assets including logos and visual identity systems.
Managing Kajabi Platform Assist in the development of a Kajabi platform for our online course offerings, ensuring materials are all branded and consistent with the Live Oak branding, aesthetic and accessibility standards.
Essential Qualifications
Cultural Competency Design Practice The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience in culturally sensitive design with specific knowledge of how to center Indigenous communities. This includes understanding how typography, color systems, imagery, and design language can either perpetuate colonial narratives or support Indigenous sovereignty and self-representation.
