Position Profile Position: Audiologist Department/School: Diagnostic Center Reports To: Facilitator, Special Education FTE: 1.0 Days/Year: 187 Salary Schedule: 2025-2026 Teacher/SSP Salary Schedule, Non-School Based Positions (Group C) FLSA Status: Exempt SUMMARY OF FUNCTION Provides audiology evaluations to students with suspected hearing loss; provide consultation and support to staff regarding students who need specialized equipment due to hearing loss; helps manage and maintain equipment to assure students with hearing loss have equal access to the educational environment; provide consultation regarding instructional strategies that are appropriate in the educational environment in order to support students with a hearing loss ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Conducts audiological evaluation with student who demonstrate a variety of needs in order to determine the degree of possible hearing loss and the impact this hearing loss may have in the educational setting • Prepares audiometric evaluation to summarize results of hearing evaluations • Makes recommendation regarding personal and classroom amplification, and assistive listening devices • Works with student to assure adaptive equipment is appropriately matched to the student individual needs and ensures the proper fit and functioning of hearing aids and other auditory devices • Provides in-service training on hearing and hearing impairments and the implications to school personnel, students and parents • Analyzes classroom noise and acoustics and makes recommendations to improve the listening environment • Trains & Collaborates with health screening team to train and assist in coordination of hearing screening for school-aged and early childhood students in accordance with District and State policies • Conducts hearing screenings/evaluations for early childhood/childfind program • Develops plans to effectively use adaptive equipment and remote mic system designed to support students with hearing loss (Hearing Aids, classroom amplification, sound field systems, etc.) • Manages the use and calibration of audiometric equipment • Helps prepares and implement Individual Education Plans for students with hearing loss, including Communication Plans • Maintains accurate records as required by District and Colorado Department of Education, including documentation required for Medicaid reimbursement. • Adapts and modifies curriculum and classroom environment to meet the unique needs of a variety of students with hearing loss • Collaborates with a variety of staff to assure the needs of students with hearing loss are appropriately addressed • Participates in Team meetings and planning sessions to develop appropriate programming for students with hearing loss. OTHER DUTIES •Performs related work as required. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS •Demonstrates knowledge of best practices in the area of working with students with hearing loss •Familiarity with a variety of assistive technologies available to support student with hearing loss •Ability to work independently with a high degree of organization and flexibility •Strong interpersonal and communication skills •Ability to independently drive to variety of sites each day QUALIFICATIONS •Valid Colorado professional license with an endorsement in the area of Educational Audiology •Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience of working with students with hearing loss ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reports to Special Education Facilitator WORKING CONDITIONS The work is performed in a typical school/office environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs; bend, reach, hold, grasp, and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing. Employees in this category will also receive the following for the 2025-2026 school year: • Non-Recurring Pay: 8% of base salary in Non-Recurring Pay (distributed as 4% on November paycheck and 4% on May paycheck). • 10 Additional Days (District Embedded Coaches Only): 10 additional days are built into the base pay for District Embedded Coaches. • Additional 10% to Base Pay for the following Hard to Fill positions: OT, PT, School Nurses, Audiologists, & School Psychologists Employment, assignment and salary placement, is in accordance with job description requirements. Base Salary Setting (New Hires): Any newly-employed Teacher/Special Service Provider (SSP) will be placed on the appropriate lane for their educational background (BA, MA, etc). according to the official transcripts that are provided. They will be placed at the appropriate step for experience listed on the resume. Teachers will receive credit for a maximum of 14 years for any applicable teaching experience (provided that the experience occurred in the last 15 years). Base Salary Setting (Rehires): Returning employees who have previously resigned or separated from the District will be rehired at the same step they were on at the time of resignation/separation plus any new experience gained in the same job, provided step increases were approved by the Board during the years in question.
