Head of Marketing – Communications
Job Description:
• Develop and implement Civic Marketplace’s marketing and communications strategy to position us as a category defining company and help us drive revenue growth.
• Create messaging frameworks and narratives that resonate with local government audiences, partners, suppliers, and the media.
• Maximise the impact of milestone announcements, new partnerships and customer case studies.
• Manage all internal and external communications, including proactive outreach to relevant national and trade media publications and handling inbound and reactive media issues as required.
• Be responsible for the development of a growth marketing strategy including customer acquisition, funnel optimization, campaigns, and performance tracking.
• Manage multi-channel growth campaigns (paid, SEO, events, partnerships, inbound, ABM) to drive awareness and leads.
• Co-design and lead joint activities with our partners, customers and suppliers to demonstrate the impact of working with Civic Marketplace.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other parts of the business, including product and engineering, sales, customer success and partnerships.
• Track and report on performance across both marketing and communications initiatives.
• Manage contractors and agency partners, and lay the groundwork for building out our in-house team in the future.
Requirements:
• Extensive experience in marketing and/or communications in a high-growth, venture-backed B2B or govtech setting.
• Strong writing, storytelling, and messaging development skills.
• Experience managing PR/media relationships and external communications.
• Data-driven mindset. Confident with a range of marketing tools and techniques
• A proven track record of delivering high impact results, driving customer acquisition and measurable growth through campaigns and experimentation.
• Able to work collaboratively with partners and third parties on mutually beneficial comms and marketing activations.
• Proven ability to operate in a fast-moving startup environment and work across teams and business functions; highly collaborative and proactive.
• Good knowledge of local government decision-making and/or public procurement in the US.
• Comfortable switching between strategic planning and tactical execution.
• Able to build and lead a comms and marketing function from scratch, including working with contractors and agency partners.
