A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Immigration Attorney for a remote position based in San Juan, PR. The role involves analyzing client files received through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to determine potential relief options by reviewing immigration histories and identifying next steps. The attorney will handle high-volume caseloads and requires a comprehensive understanding of various immigration areas.
Duties
• Conduct thorough legal analysis of immigration files received via FOIA requests to identify potential relief and case options.
• Perform comprehensive screenings of client documents and histories to assess eligibility for immigration benefits or relief.
• Work in a high-volume environment, efficiently managing multiple case files and deadlines.
• Provide detailed recommendations for next steps in legal cases, ensuring a clear understanding of nuanced immigration issues.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal staff to ensure accurate and timely file reviews.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of immigration laws and regulations across all areas of practice relevant to the firm.
• Document findings and recommendations in a clear, organized manner for internal use and client communication.
Requirements
• At least 3-5 years of immigration law experience.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex legal documents and histories.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
• Record of moving legal cases forward and an ability to manage a caseload.
• Active Bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.
• Familiarity with immigration law, including family-based petitions, asylum, removal defense, and other key areas.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
• Active Bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.
