We are looking for a 3/4-time (30 hr/wk), remote Staff Accountant to join our specialized team. This role entails working directly with our clients and collaborating with our team of staff and senior accountants to provide outsourced accounting and advisory services in accordance with our values. As a Bestow Staff Accountant, you will provide accounting services to our nonprofit clients located across the US. This role will report to our Accounting Services Manager, and is accountable for fulfilling responsibilities including: • Accounting service delivery – the primary focus of this client-facing role entails working alongside our nonprofit clients and collaborating with our team to ensure that client books are up to date, reconciled and closed each month. As nonprofits have specific accounting needs, this role requires sharp technical skills, comfort with decentralized processes and utilization of technology, particularly cloud-based accounting tools. • Client relationship management – Beyond the numbers, you will serve as a point of contact for Bestow’s with each of your clients, and you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the relationship is strong. This will entail maintaining excellent communication and maintaining the best workflows to collaborate with key contacts within the clients’ organizations. • Projects – Each client has unique needs, whether it be during the initial stages of our engagement, or during their lifecycle when improvement to processes or the adoption of tools may be beneficial. You will have the opportunity to work on projects with clients such as revamping their workflows, exploring tech tools to help them better categorize grants or other expenses, or simply streamlining processes. Our team is seeking a Staff Accountant with the following: • Foundational knowledge of general ledger accounting • Experience with processing payroll using cloud-based, full-service solutions – Gusto experience is a plus • Experience with processing accounts payable – BILL.com experience is a plus • Knowledge of accounts receivable and invoicing, expense reimbursements, cash receipts, credit card expenses, bank reconciliations and the proper associated record keeping support • Familiarity with GAAP, accruals, prepaids, payroll • Familiarity with 1099 rules and requirements • Flexibility in working with each client’s unique chart of accounts and understanding of appropriate coding in each situation • Experience with QuickBooks (preferably QBO) and Excel In promoting the art of balancing meaningful work with elements of life that inspire joy, we offer both the ability to work remotely as well as the flexibility within your work schedule. The salary for this 30 hour/week position is $50K-$55K per year, depending upon experience. The following job requirements must be met: • The applicant should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the aforementioned duties • Previous outsourced accounting experience, public accounting experience, or experience in working with multiple clients simultaneously • Experience working with QuickBooks, especially QuickBooks Online • Demonstrated ability to perform cross-functional work in a remote setting • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and software • Available and responsive during normal business hours (roughly 8:30-4:30 in your timezone) • Have strong and consistent internet connectivity and a work environment that is free from distraction and conducive to video calls A cover letter to introduce yourself and let us know a bit about you is welcomed.
