A highly respected California law firm is seeking an experienced Construction Transactional Attorney to join its growing construction and real estate practice. This role offers flexible work arrangements (remote or hybrid, based on candidate preference), sophisticated transactional work, and long-term career stability.
The firm provides a collaborative environment, reasonable billable expectations, and the opportunity to work closely with seasoned practitioners on high-value construction matters throughout California.
Position Overview
The selected attorney will advise owners, developers, contractors, and design professionals on a wide range of construction transactions, supporting projects from pre-development through completion. This role is ideal for a senior attorney who enjoys contract drafting, deal strategy, and client advisory work rather than litigation.
Key Responsibilities
• Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related agreements, including:
• Prime construction contracts
• Design-build and CM at-risk agreements
• Subcontracts and consultant agreements
• Advise clients on risk allocation, indemnity, insurance, bonding, and warranty provisions
• Support commercial, residential, mixed-use, and public works projects
• Collaborate with real estate, land use, and litigation teams as needed
• Manage matters independently and serve as a trusted advisor to clients
• Mentor junior attorneys when appropriate
Qualifications
• 10+ years of construction transactional experience
• Strong background in construction contract drafting and negotiation
• Experience advising owners, developers, contractors, and design professionals
• Familiarity with California construction law
• Active California Bar admission (required)
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and client-management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment
Compensation & Benefits
• Base salary: $190,000 – $240,000 (DOE)
