We are seeking an experienced Fractional HR Consultant to support a fully remote, multi-state U.S. team (4 full-time employees). This role focuses on HR compliance, remote workforce laws, employee relations, and HR infrastructure.
This is not a recruiting role. We need a senior-level HR professional who can provide monthly employee check-ins, compliance audits, and legally compliant HR policies, and act as a trusted advisor to the CEO.
Responsibilities
Conduct monthly employee check-ins and HR pulse reviews
Perform HR compliance audits (federal, state, local)
Advise on multi-state remote employment laws & tax considerations
Draft and maintain a legally compliant employee handbook
Ensure compliance with wage & hour, PTO, sick leave, overtime, and classification laws
Support performance documentation, onboarding, and offboarding
Identify HR risks and recommend proactive solutions
Requirements
8+ years of HR / People Operations / HR Consulting experience
Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law & multi-state compliance
Proven experience supporting remote teams
Experience drafting employee handbooks and HR policies
Ability to translate legal requirements into practical guidance
Preferred: SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR, SPHR
