Overview The College of Engineering is seeking New Student Orientation (NSO) Assistants to support incoming First-Year Engineering students during New Student Orientation. NSO Assistants will work collaboratively with Undergraduate Studies academic advisors to assist students with course enrollment and orientation processes. This role requires strong communication skills, comfort with digital platforms, and the ability to support multiple students in a fast-paced, virtual environment. This position is 100% remote. Primary Responsibilities • Provide enrollment assistance to incoming First-Year Engineering students during NSO • Utilize digital systems including Campus Solutions (SIS), Microsoft Teams, and Zoom • Facilitate student support in large group Zoom sessions and breakout rooms • Assist multiple students simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and professionalism • Communicate clearly and effectively with students, advisors, and staff Training & Schedule • NSO Dates: June 1, 2026 – July 16, 2026 • Training: Week of May 25 (hours during training may differ from regular NSO hours) • Work Availability Required During NSO Dates: • Monday–Thursday: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST • Thursday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM EST Required Qualifications • Currently enrolled, minimum second-year MSU undergraduate student • Eligible for hourly student employment at MSU during Summer 2026 • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills • Comfortable presenting information and guiding students in a large Zoom-based setting • Proficient with digital tools and online systems • Knowledge of and experience using Campus Solutions (SIS) and Zoom • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently • Comfortable asking questions and seeking support when needed • Remote work must be performed within the United States during the dates and time periods listed above Preferred Qualifications • Interest in supporting students transitioning to a university environment • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with colleagues, students and stakeholders in a professional environment • Students pursuing Engineering majors are preferred, though all undergraduate students are encouraged to apply Applicants contacted for an interview may be required to provide professional references upon request.
