Job Overview
In this critical role, you will be responsible for responding to routine and non-routine inquiries, performing research as needed to resolve inquiries, and reviewing and adjudicating claims and/or non-medical appeals. You will determine whether to return, deny, or pay claims following organizational policies and procedures, ensuring effective customer relations and delivering accurate, timely, and courteous support to our customers. As a Claims Customer Service Advocate II at arenaflex, you will be an integral part of our team, working collaboratively to provide exceptional service and support to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure effective customer relations by responding accurately, timely, and courteously to telephone, written, web, or walk-in inquiries.
- Handle situations that may require adaptation of response or extensive research, identifying incorrectly processed claims and processing adjustments and reprocessing actions according to department guidelines.
- Examine and process claims and/or non-medical appeals according to business/contract regulations, internal standards, and examining guidelines, entering claims into the claim system after verification of correct coding of procedures and diagnosis codes.
- Ensure claims are processing according to established quality and production standards, identifying complaints and inquiries of a complex level that cannot be resolved following desk procedures and guidelines and referring these to a lead or manager for resolution.
- Identify and report potential fraud and abuse situations, maintaining confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years of customer service experience, including one year of claims or appeals processing, or a Bachelor's Degree in lieu of work experience.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with strong customer service skills and good spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills.
- Basic business math proficiency and the ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
We prefer candidates with:
- One year of call center experience with claims experience, demonstrating a strong understanding of claims processing and customer service principles.
