Position Summary
The Property Accounting Associate will be responsible for providing accounting administrative support for a portfolio of properties which may include projects such as bank account reconciliations, report package assembly, etc.
Responsibilities
Perform bank account reconciliations regularly throughout the financial period to maintain an accurate daily cash balance
Assist the Property Accounting team in compiling monthly financial information in accordance with deadlines/requirements while adhering to accounting policies and procedures and maintaining effective internal controls
Assist the Property Accounting team in preparing financial packages for multiple clients with different reporting requirements
Assist the Property Accounting team in reviewing the appropriate reporting and recording journal entries to maintain income and revenue in industry specific software
Effectively communicate and collaborate with Property Accountants and above in a timely manner while providing exceptional customer service
Ability to work independently to complete tasks
Utilize systems/tools to complete work in a timely manner
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
College coursework completed in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience preferred.
Knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, including debits and credits, journal entries, and the accounting equation
Knowledge of bookkeeping practices, including maintaining ledgers, reconciling accounts, and managing financial records
Knowledge of Industry Specific Software such as Yardi
Skilled in organization, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities efficiently
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite with a high proficiency in Excel
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to spot discrepancies and errors in financial records
Ability to accurately enter and manage financial data in accounting systems and spreadsheets
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to work independently to complete tasks
Ability to utilize systems/tools to complete work in a timely manner
Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment
Work Environment:
This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per week
The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions
