About New Moms At New Moms, we’re on a mission to empower young moms and their families to thrive and build brighter futures. Through innovative housing, job training, and family support programs, we serve hundreds of families each year across Chicagoland. Position Summary The Community-Based Doula supports healthy pregnancies, promotes breastfeeding, and builds trusting relationships with families before, during, and after birth. Through home visits, group-based services, and labor support, the Doula provides education, advocacy, and non-clinical birth support. This role is based out of our Oak Park office and primarily serves young mothers (ages 24 and under) in the surrounding western suburbs, with cross-coverage for families in Chicago. Location: Oak Park, IL with travel to surrounding western suburbs & Chicago Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week Starting Salary: $49,000 - $51,000 DOQ What a Day Might Look Like • Visiting a participant at home to discuss birth plans, comfort measures, or postpartum recovery • Providing continuous, non-clinical labor and delivery support in a hospital or birth center • Supporting a new parent with breastfeeding initiation and early bonding • Facilitating or preparing for a prenatal care group • Coordinating with coaches, healthcare providers, and community partners • Documenting visits, assessments, and outcomes in required databases • Responding to participant needs through phone, text, or the New Moms app • Participating in the on-call rotation to support births as they occur Key Responsibilities • Provide labor and delivery support to an annual caseload of approximately 23 participants per year • Conduct weekly prenatal and postpartum home visits using a culturally responsive approach • Deliver education on birth preparation, parenting, child development, and family well-being • Provide emotional support and mental health case management • Facilitate prenatal care groups on a rotating basis and support additional group cycles as needed • Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to connect families to resources • Use digital tools and coaching platforms to maintain participant engagement • Maintain timely and accurate documentation and support program compliance You’ll Thrive in This Role If You Are: • Passionate about birth equity, reproductive justice, and supporting young parents • Calm, grounded, and responsive in high-intensity or unpredictable situations • Skilled at building trust with families • Comfortable balancing scheduled visits with on-call responsibilities • Organized and able to manage documentation, certifications, and timelines • Committed to reflective practice, coaching, and continuous learning Benefits & Perks: We care about the well-being of our team and are proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including: • Medical insurance with generous employer contribution • Dental and vision insurance • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) • Short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance – 100% employer-paid • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for free counseling and resources • Generous paid time off, as well as 15 paid holidays and half days on Fridays during the summer • 403b retirement plan with employer match • Pre-tax transportation benefits • Discounts on Bright Endeavors products • Free spiritual direction services • For licensed employees, you will receive over 20 free CEUs during onboarding and regular free CEUs throughout employment.
