Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to join our team as an International Freight Forwarding Professional, focusing on ocean product development and strategy implementation. In this critical role, you will work closely with the Managing Director of Ocean and other key stakeholders to drive the growth of ocean volumes, enhance the development of the ocean product, and support sales and operations as an ocean subject matter expert. Your expertise and leadership will be essential in implementing and communicating strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality, while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures to minimize risk exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute strategies to support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product, working closely with the Managing Director of Ocean and other key stakeholders.
  • Support carrier development, pricing, analysis of carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and resolution of carrier service issues.
  • Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and developing an ocean strategy to enhance the effectiveness of sales and achieve account development and yield enhancement expectations.
  • Communicate internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and direction, working closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations.
  • Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity.
  • Manage the annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets, and work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing. Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus. You should be familiar with Microsoft Office applications and possess excellent communication and presentation skills, with a business-oriented mindset and remarkable business acumen. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are also essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of driving growth and enhancing service quality in the ocean product.
  • Advanced degree or certification in a relevant field, such as logistics, supply chain management, or international business.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, with a strong understanding of global trade and cultural nuances.
