Director, External Communications – Corporate Reputation
Job Description:
• Develop and deploy a modern, unified communications strategy that builds Humana's corporate reputation among key audiences, including media, attentive public, healthcare influencers, and consumers
• Be a strong and dynamic senior leader with a track record of successfully shaping and implementing compelling communications campaigns
• Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of communications work against core objectives and identify areas for improvement
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including industry associations, journalists, ensuring alignment and support for the company's initiatives
• Navigate complex regulatory environments by developing clear and compliant communication strategies related to Medicaid, Medicare, and other healthcare regulations
• Lead the development and execution of sophisticated issue mitigation plans, ensuring the company is prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to any potential needs
• Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on external communication matters, including speechwriting and media training
• Partner closely with teams across Corporate Communications, Business Functions, and Operations to align on high-visibility campaigns and business needs
• Be part of a high-performing communications team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Ensure a modern, digital-first approach to the use of both traditional and social media channels to influence key stakeholders
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Political Science
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications, with a focus on external communications
• Proven experience in complex business environments and regulatory industries
• Strong understanding of the Healthcare sector
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi-stakeholder communications and build relationships with diverse audiences
• Experience in crisis communications and media relations
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
