Payroll & LOA Benefits Specialist - Must have WURK (system) Experience
Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cannabis Payroll & Benefits Specialist to oversee payroll & benefits processes within our cannabis industry organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in WURK and accounting software, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee wages, benefits, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Must have WURK experience please.
This role is also responsible for managing leave of absence to include FMLA and has oversight of our company-wide benefits.
Prior Union Experience is a PLUS!
Responsibilities
• Manage end-to-end payroll processing using Wurk.
• Works directly with the head of HR on benefits plans, negotiations and administration.
• Full oversight of the LOA request and FMLA requests
• Reconcile payroll accounts, perform journal entries, and maintain general ledger accuracy through double entry bookkeeping and technical accounting practices.
• Oversee benefits administration related to payroll, including deductions, tax filings, and compliance with governmental regulations.
• Ensure proper data entry into payroll and HRIS systems while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
• Collaborate with human resources and accounting teams to coordinate payroll activities with accounts payable/receivable and other financial processes.
• Conduct account reconciliations, analyze payroll data for discrepancies or errors, and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Maintain thorough documentation of payroll transactions, journal entries, and related financial records for audit purposes.
• Stay current on tax regulations affecting payroll processing within the cannabis industry to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Assist with non-profit accounting or governmental accounting procedures as needed for organizational reporting requirements.
Qualifications
• Proven experience managing payroll in WURK. This is a MUST HAVE.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles including general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
• Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
• Familiarity with WURK systems and experience with technical accounting practices related to payroll management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
