Interim Grant Writer (Leadership | Growth Phase)
Helping the Hopeless is a growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving underserved families, seniors, veterans, and foster youth throughout the Antelope Valley. As we expand our warehouse distribution operations and community partnerships, we are strengthening our funding infrastructure to support long-term sustainability and measurable impact.
We are seeking an experienced Interim Grant Writer to support grant research, proposal development, and funding strategy during this growth phase. This leadership engagement is ideal for a nonprofit professional who understands how to position emerging organizations for competitive foundation and institutional funding.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research and identify aligned local, regional, and foundation grant opportunities
• Draft and refine compelling grant narratives
• Assist with developing clear program budgets and measurable outcome statements
• Help establish a structured grant calendar and submission plan
• Provide strategic recommendations to improve overall grant readiness
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience writing or contributing to successful grant proposals
• Understanding of foundation and nonprofit funding processes
• Strong research, writing, and deadline management skills
• Ability to translate community impact into persuasive narratives
• Comfortable working in a growth-stage nonprofit environment
Commitment:
• 3–5 hours per week
• 60–90-day engagement
• Hybrid (U.S.-based; primarily remote with occasional strategy meetings)
This is a volunteer leadership role during our foundational phase. If funding is secured and the engagement proves to be a strong mutual fit, there may be an opportunity for a paid contract in the future. Compensation is not guaranteed and is contingent upon funding availability.
