Writing and Creative content help for Kid-Friendly Mini Mysteries w/ Embedded Codes
I need a creative writer who can write stories, poems, letters, documents, etc and also design light puzzles, codes, and clues in the texts. as well as possibly help guide some clues to include in some images that I'll create
I’m creating a kid-friendly but made for YA (12-24) mystery/ treasure/ escape-room style ONLINE ONLY series with clues, ciphers, and a solve.
• * What we’re making * *
4 stand alone short mysteries/ adventure/ treasure/ escape-room type stories to start (with a path to 12-48)
Each one could be ~1,000 words, setting up the story, situation, etc
For kids 12 to YA 24?
Each story includes hidden words/messages/codes that help solve: who/what/where/when/how
Each episode ends with a clear “solve” (answer + explanation), but I’m open to what the solve should be (object? location? culprit? secret phrase? historical fact?)
• * What we will work on * *
Determine a process and structure and propose “series formats” (how episodes work, how solving works, difficulty ramp)
Write the first episode + build its clues (and provide the solution path)
Once we align on format, write the remaining 3 episodes with similar structure
Keep puzzles kid-appropriate and fair (solvable without obscure knowledge)
• * Deliverables * *
Episode text (Google Doc or Word) + puzzle elements embedded
Answer key: list of clues, how they’re found, and how they lead to the solve
Optional: simple image/pdf of supplemental materials that offer clues (scene, artifacts, letters, etc)
• * Ideal experience * *
Children’s fiction writing (mystery/adventure)
Puzzle design: escape rooms, ARGs, scavenger hunts, codes & ciphers, geocaching
Able to write clear, fun, appropriate content
• * To apply * *
Please include (if you can):
A children / YA CLEAN writing sample (or link)
A short example of a hidden-message clue you’ve written (even 1 paragraph)
Any ideas or suggested that you have
Budget * *
Open to fixed-price per episode or hourly. Start with 1 paid episode as a test, then expand.
