Global Edge Group is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to apply technical knowledge in the design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures. The role involves resolving technical issues, coordinating with interdisciplinary stakeholders, and providing guidance to team members. Responsibilities • Serves as subject matter expert in the civil structural design areas. As the subject matter expert, the individual is expected to be capable of resolving technical issues, coordinating discussion with interdisciplinary stakeholders, and working with the management team to identify project impacts • Works on highly complex tasks in multiple and diverse areas and proposes innovative design solutions requiring a significant amount of independent judgment • Works on developing the technical expertise required to bring in advances technical capabilities in house as deemed beneficial and strategic for Company • Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc.) • Interfaces with Company Licensing in support of domestic & international regulatory efforts • Interacts with other disciplines and structural engineering consultants in an effort to allow effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems • Individuals should possess or acquire general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams • Provides guidance and mentoring to other staff members in support of the team’s technical activities • Develops and reviews requirements documents, methodology documents, design reports, and studies • Possess strong written and oral communication skills and routinely interacts with contractors and/or regulatory bodies • Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields to function on multi-disciplinary teams Skills • A minimum of a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school is required • Minimum of 8-12 years of full-time, highly relevant experience as a Structural Design Engineer is required • Extensive use and understanding of ANSYS is required • Must have in-depth understanding of engineering concepts, principles, theories, strong technical writing skills as well as good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills • Exceptional organization and time management skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases is required • Design and analysis of structures, including concrete and steel, use of design software and finite element method analyses • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 • An advanced degree is preferred • A registered professional engineer license (P.E.) is strongly preferred • Working with the following codes preferred: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual and Seismic Design Manual • Computer programing skills (e.g. MATLAB, or Python) is not required but preferred Company Overview • Global Edge Group is a full-service workforce solutions firm specializing in the recruitment of technical and project personnel for industries such as Oil and Gas, Power, Renewables, Mining, Automotive, Semiconductor, Information Technology, and Infrastructure.
