Supply Chain/Logistics Consultant Needed for Distribution Network Assessment
We are seeking an experienced senior supply chain consultant to support a distribution network assessment for a mid-market organization evaluating whether to transition from in-house warehousing to a 3PL operating model.
This is a strategy-led assessment, not an RFP execution or transportation sourcing exercise.
Project Scope
The consultant will lead or support an assessment covering:
Current-state distribution network and DC footprint
Identification of operational, service, and cost pain points
In-house warehousing vs. outsourced (3PL) model evaluation
Pros/cons, risks, and trade-offs of a 3PL transition
High-level cost-to-serve and service impact considerations
Clear, executive-ready recommendations to support a go / no-go decision
The project is expected to be time-bound and assessment-focused, with practical, experience-driven insights (not academic modeling).
Required Experience (Must Have)
10+ years in supply chain, distribution, or logistics consulting
Direct experience leading distribution network or operating model assessments with supporting toolkit and collateral for deliverables
Hands-on exposure to 3PL environments (design, transition, or operations)
Strong understanding of DC operations, labor models, and cost drivers
Experience presenting recommendations to senior leadership
Nice to Have
Experience with North American distribution networks
Background in consulting, industry, or boutique operations advisory
Prior work with mid-market or PE-backed companies
Not a Fit If You Are
A sourcing generalist without logistics depth
Focused primarily on transportation or rate benchmarking
A 4PL / control tower architect
Looking for a long-term operational role rather than an assessment project
