Fractional QA Lead — SaaS Products (Ongoing, Multi-Project) - Contract to Hire

Who We Are Uplaunched is a lean SaaS studio. We build and launch AI-powered web products, fast. We use vibe coding tools like Replit and Cursor to go from idea to working product quickly, and we have paying users across our portfolio. We move fast and iterate constantly. The right person for this role should be energized by that, not overwhelmed by it. But fast without quality isn't shipping, it's just chaos. That's where you come in. -- Where We're Starting: AdSwipe AdSwipe is an AI-powered ad creative management SaaS for performance marketers, it helps teams organize, test, and iterate on ad creatives across platforms. We're approaching launch and need a sharp set of eyes on every corner of the product before we scale. This is the first engagement. Once we've nailed the workflow together, you'll continue with us across the rest of our portfolio. -- The Role This is not a task-worker gig. We're not looking for someone to click through a checklist someone else wrote. We need a QA lead who thinks like a product manager, someone who can look at a SaaS product, understand the user deeply, and proactively find everything that would stop it from launching successfully. You should be writing the test cases, not just executing them. -- What You'll Do • Deep dive into each product, understand it from scratch, map out every user story, every flow, every edge case without being hand-held • Generate detailed, actionable bug tickets, clear steps to reproduce, expected vs actual behavior, severity rating, and screenshots. Tickets a developer can act on immediately with zero follow-up questions • Work within our dev/production workflow, test on dev, generate tickets, verify fixes, sign off before anything goes to production • Think proactively about product quality, flag UX gaps, missing states, confusing flows, and anything that would hurt a new user's first experience • Help us build the QA process itself, we want your input on how to structure this the right way • Scale across multiple products, AdSwipe is first, more are coming -- What We're Looking For • 5+ years in QA, ideally at a SaaS company — you've seen what launch-ready actually looks like from the inside • Product-minded — you think about users and outcomes, not just bugs and test cases • Crystal-clear written communication — your tickets are so specific that developers never have to ask what you meant • Comfortable with or curious about vibe coding tools (Replit, Cursor, Bolt, etc.) — you don't need to code, but you should understand how AI-assisted development works • Experience working in dev/staging/production environments • Truly autonomous — given a product URL and minimal context, you come back with a comprehensive, prioritized audit • Available for ongoing work — this is a partnership, not a project -- Nice to Have • Experience QA-ing AI-powered SaaS products • Familiarity with Jira, Linear, or similar ticket management tools • API testing experience (Postman or similar) • Experience building a QA process from scratch at a startup • Background in performance marketing or ad tech (relevant to AdSwipe) -- Compensation The trial project is a fixed $300. What's included in that scope will depend on your experience — a more seasoned QA lead will naturally deliver broader coverage, deeper tickets, and sharper strategic thinking within the same budget. That difference is exactly what we're evaluating. We'd rather pay well for someone exceptional than cheap out and get mediocre work. If the trial goes well, we'll discuss an ongoing retainer across our full product portfolio. -- How We'll Start We'll kick off with a paid trial on AdSwipe. We'll give you access to the product and very little else — intentionally. We want to see how you think when there's no documentation, no spec, and no one holding your hand. The quality of your first unprompted audit will tell us everything we need to know about whether we're a fit. Generic proposals will be ignored.
