We care for patients with STEMI, post-cardiac catheterization, CHF, arrhythmias, stroke management, and more. With a supportive nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, our PCAs play a vital role in delivering compassionate, top-quality care. Position Overview: As a Unit Secretary in a hospital setting, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating communication and administrative operations within the unit. This position requires strong organizational skills, diligence, and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality. Your role is integral to maintaining effective communication and coordination within the healthcare team, enhancing patient care delivery and outcomes. What We’re Looking For: Preferred Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in medical office administration. Experience: Prior experience using computers and computer systems to enter data, or process information. Experience in working with the public; customer service. Preferred Experience: Prior clerical experience working in a healthcare setting. Preferred Other: Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and HIPAA regulations preferred. Why Mercy Hospital? Transforming the Health of Our Communities Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
