This is a remote, part-time role for a Culture Writer at The Vagabond’s Verse. The Culture Writer will craft compelling and original content related to cultural topics, analyze trends, conduct research, and develop articles or essays. Key responsibilities also include collaborating with the editorial team, incorporating feedback, and meeting deadlines for content submissions. The candidate will contribute to the publication's mission by producing insightful and thought-provoking pieces. This role requires a minimum of 2.5 working hours per week and attendance at at least (2) of our one hour weekly meetings every month to pitch their article ideas. Responsibilities: ● Write at least one (1) article per 3 weeks for our blog, Second Thoughts on topics related to current things happening in our culture. This involves keeping up with trends, pop culture, movies/film, and anything else that is a hot topic. ● Work with our cartoonists who create sketches for your articles as needed to ensure a smooth artistic flow. ● Assist in editorial planning and development as needed. Compensation: Unpaid Role - This is a volunteer position. All contributors receive editorial credit across all our platforms. Once stable funding becomes available, we plan to compensate all of our staff. Qualifications • A strong and deeply opinionated stance on pop culture topics. • Strong Editorial skills with an ability to edit and refine content for clarity and style • Excellent Research abilities to develop well-informed and engaging articles • Effective communication and the ability to collaborate with editorial teams • College undergraduate (juniors and seniors). Master's/Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Creative Writing, Cultural Studies, or a related field is preferred • A strong passion for storytelling and creativity • Familiarity with digital content platforms and online publishing • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Calendar, Drive etc.) Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
