Senior Consultant | Business Intelligence

#LI-CF2 #LI-Remote We are seeking a hands-on Senior Consultant, Business Intelligence to join the Emerging Technology practice at CBIZ Technology. In this role, you will design and deliver modern data and analytics solutions centered on Alteryx and Microsoft Fabric, helping clients turn raw data into actionable insights. The focus is on technical solutioning and client enablement rather than people management. Essential Functions and Primary Duties • Engage with clients to understand business goals and translate them into scalable BI solutions using Alteryx, Microsoft Fabric, and/or the Microsoft Power Platform. • Build and optimize data pipelines and workflows: • Alteryx Designer/Server for data preparation, blending, and automation. • Microsoft Fabric components such as OneLake, Data Factory pipelines, Data Engineering/Lakehouse, and Synapse experiences. • Develop end-to-end analytics artifacts: • Semantic models, datasets, and metrics in Fabric. • Interactive reports and dashboards in Power BI (including DAX and Power Query/M). • Implement robust data modeling (star/snowflake), data quality checks, and security (RLS/OLS) to ensure accuracy and governance. • Contribute to solution architecture decisions, tool selection, and best practices for performance, reusability, and cost-efficiency. • Explore and prototype AI-assisted data enablement (e.g., copilots, AI-driven data preparation, natural language insights) where appropriate. • Produce clear documentation and provide user enablement/training to support adoption. • Support business development with solution demonstrations, estimates, and proposal inputs. • Optional: provide informal mentoring and knowledge sharing within the team; light project coordination as needed. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field (Master's degree is a plus). • 5+ years in BI/analytics with a strong focus on: • Alteryx (Designer required; Server/Gallery and scheduling/orchestration preferred). • Microsoft Fabric and related technologies: • OneLake and Lakehouse concepts • Data Factory pipelines and orchestration • DataBricks data intelligence platforms • Synapse experiences (SQL, notebooks) • Power BI (data modeling, DAX, Power Query/M, deployment pipelines) • Proficiency in SQL and dimensional data modeling; familiarity with ETL/ELT best practices and performance tuning. • Experience integrating disparate data sources (files, APIs, relational/cloud databases) and implementing data validation and governance. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and client-facing communication skills; ability to translate business questions into technical solutions. • Nice to have: • Python for data engineering/analytics (e.g., pandas, PySpark, notebooks in Fabric). • Scripting for process automation (e.g., PowerShell, Shell, BASH) • AI-driven data enablement (e.g., Power BI Copilot, Azure cognitive/LLM services) and prompt-centric solution patterns. • Relevant certifications (e.g., Alteryx Designer Core/Advanced, Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, Power BI Data Analyst, Azure Data Engineer). • Familiarity with ERP & CRM systems for reporting and data extraction (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Acumatica, Sage Intacct or Microsoft Dynamics) Join CBIZ Technology's Emerging Technology practice to build modern, practical BI solutions that help clients accelerate insight and drive value from their data.
