Role Description
This role involves writing for Curveball, our sports-adjacent pop culture vertical, covering the side of sports that lives off the field.
• Write sports-adjacent pop culture and athlete lifestyle stories
• Cover celebrity relationships, viral moments, controversies, and cultural conversations tied to sports
• Create timely, trend-driven content optimized specifically for the NewsBreak audience
Qualifications
• Proven experience writing sports-adjacent pop culture or athlete lifestyle content
• Strong understanding of NewsBreak's audience and content style
• Ability to write fast, clear, engaging stories with strong hooks
• Comfort working in a deadline-driven environment
• Familiarity with digital publishing best practices
Requirements
• Previous experience writing for NewsBreak or similar aggregation platforms (nice to have)
• Background in sports, entertainment, or celebrity news (nice to have)
• Ability to spot trends early and pitch timely story ideas (nice to have)
