Position Snapshot
We are seeking an Evening Specimen Processor – Data Entry Specialist to join our front‑line team of #HealthcareHeroes on the third shift (midnight to 8 a.m.) in Houston, TX. This is a part‑time, 25‑hour‑per‑week role that blends meticulous data entry with crucial specimen handling. You will be the bridge between patient orders and laboratory testing, ensuring each sample is properly logged, routed, and ready for analysis while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
Core Responsibilities
- Specimen Reception & Routing: Verify that each incoming laboratory specimen matches its accompanying test request, label it accurately, and place it into the correct workflow lane for timely testing.
- Data Entry & Verification: Accurately input patient demographics, physician orders, and test codes into the laboratory information system (LIS). Double‑check orders for completeness and flag any discrepancies that require corrective action.
- Quality & Compliance: Champion safety protocols, adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and follow biosafety guidelines to protect yourself and colleagues from biological hazards.
- Regulatory Awareness: Maintain strict confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) and comply with HIPAA, CLIA, and other relevant standards while performing routine audits of data entries.

Essential Qualifications

- Proficient typing skills (minimum 60 wpm) and comfortable using a 10‑key numeric keypad for rapid data entry.
