Freelance Blog Writer for Local Development News (Las Cruces, NM) - Contract to Hire
We’re seeking a dependable freelance writer to produce three SEO-optimized blog posts per week covering new development and planning activity in the City of Las Cruces.
This role involves guided research using platforms and sources we provide. Further independent research on the topic may be required. The focus is on clearly summarizing and explaining development items for a general audience.
Responsibilities
• Write 3 original blog posts per week (600 to 900 words)
• Research using provided platforms and materials
• Translate technical or bureaucratic information into clear, engaging content
• Optimize posts for SEO, including keywords, headings, and meta descriptions
• Meet weekly deadlines consistently
Requirements
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Working knowledge of SEO best practices
• Use of ChatGPT or other AI tools is allowed and anticipated, but all content must be reviewed, fact checked, and edited by the writer
• Ability to follow research guidance closely
• Interest in real estate, development, or city planning is a plus
Compensation
• $15 per hour (hourly)
• Workload to be discussed, with an emphasis on quality and efficiency
