Role Description
This role is for passionate artists who are looking to gain experience for their portfolio by working for a respected magazine and be part of its growth.
This is currently a (volunteer) part time role for a Cartoonist/Illustrator in the United States, the U.K. or Canada. Time commitment is about 2.5 working hours per week. All contributors receive editorial credit across all our platforms and a chance to work with a talented team and get their pieces published in print and online. Once stable funding becomes available via good news from grant applications and donations etc., we plan to compensate all of our staff.
This is a part-time remote role for an Editorial Cartoonist/Illustrator. The role involves creating engaging editorial cartoons, developing original illustrations, and collaborating with editorial teams to visually interpret written content/articles in our print issues and digital publications.
Responsibilities:
● Create original illustrations, comics, or visual narratives for The Vagabond’s Verse blog or print magazine and agree
not to use AI-generated artwork unless explicitly approved.
● Collaborate with writers and editors to develop visuals that complement articles or standalone features.
● Deliver high-quality digital files in agreed formats by set deadlines. Ensure artwork aligns with the magazine’s visual identity.
Qualifications:
• College undergraduate (juniors and seniors). Master's/Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Design, or any related field is preferred
• A strong passion for storytelling
• Familiarity with digital content platforms and online publishing
• Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Calendar, Drive etc.)
• A visual portfolio
